Animal ID: 18-05-17-00149Cappy & Cara (male)

Poodle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BONDED PAIR. Cappy, a 6-year-old male toy poodle, and Cara, a 9-year-old female toy poodle are tightly bonded and MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. Both dogs were a little ragged, thin and had minor skin and severe dental issues when they came to our rescue, but have now had thorough physical exams, comprehensive blood panels, x-rays, dentistry and vaccinations. We topped all that off with a professional grooming and the transformation has been amazing. Although they were a little reticent when we received them, Cappy and Cara have both blossomed into very social, loving lapdogs who actively seek affection. We're looking for adopters who will ... (Read More)make this sweet pair an integral part of their home and family and give them lots of time and attention. A quieter home with no children or older children (10+) is preferred. For those not familiar with poodles, they do require regular bathing and clipping/grooming (we recommend once a month), and frequent brushing to keep their naturally curly coats looking their best. So be prepared to build those requirements into your schedule and budget. Adoption fee: $500 for the pair. You can apply online at www.savethestrays.org or email info@savethestrays.org for more information. (Less)

Animal ID: 18-04-05-00213Buford (male)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

GOT BEAGLE? Meet BUFORD, a 2-1/2 year-old beagle who loves to sniff around the exercise areas here at Save the Strays, then take a nap in his bed. Buford is happy-go-lucky, gets along with the other dogs here at the rescue and enjoys being petted. Like most hounds, he's very food-driven. So, if you get a bag of treats and devote an afternoon, you can probably teach him most of the basic commands. We think he will make a fine family pet who would enjoy snuggling with his adopters and any kids in the family or neighborhood. Buford would do best with a (physically - not wireless) fenced yard, since hounds will follow their noses and take off if ... (Read More)a squirrel or rabbit catches their attention. But he can be walked on leash, if you don't have a fence. If you're looking for a sweet-natured, laid-back dog with a beautiful face and soulful eyes, apply for Buford online at www.savethestrays.org or email info@savethestrays.org for more information. Adoption fee $250. (Less)

Animal ID: 18-03-27-00219Oakley (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

TINY, BUT FEISTY! This is OAKLEY, a Shih Tzu / Chihuahua mix pup who's high energy and very outgoing. He weighs just 5 lbs., but he runs fearlessly with the smaller adult dogs here at the rescue. Oakley needs a home with adopters who have a lot of time to spend with him, to continue his socialization by introducing him to new people, places and situations. We're looking for someone who is retired or doesn't work; works only part-time, or works different hours than his/her spouse. Also, no children younger than teen-agers, due to his small size and extreme wiggliness! A fenced yard is preferred. If this sounds like you, and you like tiny but ... Plott Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive

JUSTIN is a 6-month-old Plott hound mix who is sweet tempered and slightly goofy. He's at that awkward adolescent stage where he's a little clumsy as he grows into his legs. Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS! Meet JOY, an adorable 1-1/2 year old chiweenie (Chihuahua and dachshund). Joy is shy and wary of strangers, sudden movements and loud noises, so she's not appropriate for a home with children. But once she gets to know you, she's quite loving, playful and cuddly. We're looking for an adult adopter or adult-only home who can give her lots of attention and exposure to new people, places and situations to help her become more well rounded.
